Brief: Self-negotiated- To pay homage to the words written in love letters written from and to famous people from throughout history.
Solution: A series of hand lettered designs, honouring the romantic and platonic relationships shared by famous individuals. Intricate hand drawn lettering pays tribute to the passionate and caring nature of these relationships.
These relationships include Oscar Wilde’s illicit relationship with Lord Alfred Douglas, the close bond between Vincent van Gogh and his brother Theo van Gogh, Emily Dickinson's close friendship and believed romantic relationship with her sister-in-law Susan Gilbert, and Napoleon Bonaparte's explosive marriage to Josephine Bonaparte.
The final outcome is four unique hand drawn designs, made using quotes from the letters exchanged throughout these famous relationships. These designs have been applied to greetings cards to be given as declarations of love as well as large scale prints to be displayed within the home. Both are hand screen printed onto various coloured papers and cards.
